Why is volunteering important?
I truly believe that we were all put on this earth to serve our fellow man and if you are in a position to give back to your community, you are obligated to do so. I have conditioned myself to think that if there is something I desire, I need to first make that situation happen for someone else. For example, if I wanted to be mentored, I need to first mentor someone else. If I’m seeking an opportunity, I need to give someone else an opportunity first and hopefully in the process, my territory will increase and enable me to help others in an even greater way. But it starts with service first!
How do you envision Service First Initiatives making an impact?
I envision Service First becoming a beacon in the community for young black men by creating a platform of enrichment, training and development that will enable them to impact the world.
What do you see as the greatest threat to young men today?
The greatest threat to our young men today is them not seeing what real leadership looks like, them not being told that they are valued and can achieve their dreams, and them not receiving the tools (academic, social, business) that they need to be successful.
